Spirituele Liedjes
Het is geweldig om mijn stem, melodieën en schrijfkunst te gebruiken om muziek te maken, en het maakt me erg blij wanneer ik anderen kan inspireren met mijn muziek.
Ik heb mijn hele leven al gezongen. Op schoolmusicals, thuis, op mijn werk, in de trein, op het strand of op straat (meestal merk ik het zelf niet eens). Het was me nooit echt gelukt om een liedje te schrijven. Na twee zinnen kwam ik niet verder, en dat vond ik prima. Ik had geen ambitie om zangeres te worden.
Maar toen gebeurde het, in januari 2021, in Zuid-Afrika, waar ik destijds woonde. Ik was op een kanotocht met twee bekende, toen we langs een bord vaarden met de naam "Sibuya". Ik vond het meteen een prachtig woord en vroeg aan de anderen wat het betekende in de lokale taal Xhosa. Het bleek "We will return" te betekenen. Dit was de inspiratie voor mijn eerste liedje, en het voelde alsof er een muziekboek in mij openging. Binnen een week had ik nog vier liedjes geschreven, gevolgd door nog veel meer in de jaren die volgden. Ze zijn allemaal geïnspireerd door de betekenis van een naam, mooi woord, of gewoon een situatie of gebeurtenis.
Ik schrijf mijn liedjes over bewustwording, dankbaarheid, positiviteit en overgave aan wat er is. Dit alles met als doel om op de beste manier in contact te komen met jezelf en de wereld om je heen. Ik geloof dat alles wat je nodig hebt al in jezelf zit, en het is de (niet altijd gemakkelijke) reis om daarin te geloven en de magie om je heen te zien ontstaan.
Ik werk eraan om mijn liedjes professioneel op te nemen, maar tot die tijd hoop ik dat je geniet van de informeel opgenomen versies ;)

This song is about a young man I met while volunteering at an NGO in Cape Town that supported homeless people. He was a client, and I saw loosing his hope in self and life. The meaning of his name Mangaliso, is miracles, and it was the inspiration of this song for all, to alwys keep faith in self and see the miracles all around you.
Just One You
This song is about embracing who you truly are and letting go of the need to fit in with others' expectations. It encourages you to celebrate your uniqueness and recognize the value of being yourself. The message is a gentle reminder to trust, love, and express the one-of-a-kind person you are.
Sending Gratitude
The message is one of deep appreciation for the beauty and energy that surround us, and expressing gratitude to the elements of nature. It acknowledges their power to nurture, heal, and guide us on our journey. No stars without the darkness!
Self Love
My first song ever written. Recorded with Tristan Nebe on guitar and at the time, no 'band name' or name of the song. This was actually the first time we played this song together, very casually at one of the beautiful rivers nearby. This song is about embracing nature, letting go of what no longer serves you, and trusting in your inner wisdom to live authentically and with gratitude.
